STEP. STEP. STEP. Music with Landon Caldwell + Walking Meditation with Rebekah Nolan

  • Companion Projects 3715 Washington Blvd Indianapolis United States (map)

Join us Sunday, June 1, 2025 1—4 pm for a musical and meditative afternoon with STEP. STEP. STEP. artists Landon Caldwell and Rebekah Nolan.

Landon will open our Sunday afternoon with new pieces performed live in the front gallery. Following his set, Rebekah will lead a walking meditation that leaves from the gallery around 2:15 and moves through the neighborhood for roughly 45 minutes before returning. If you’re walking with us, wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a water bottle. We’ll likely walk rain or shine, so be mindful of the day’s weather.

STEP. STEP. STEP. is a storybook and exhibition by Rebekah Nolan. The exhibition presents three room-sized installations, each with an accompanying sound composition, under the creative direction of Nolan. She shares 200+ new, acrylic and oil pastel drawings and paintings, each a variation on a theme. An otherwise ignored portion of the gallery is activated with a conjuring graphite and found object collaboration by Danielle Joy Graves and Nick Witten. In her largest textile work to date, Priya Wittman contributes an embracing and monumental tulle installation. Landon Caldwell composed generative, site-relational sound works distinct to each installation. The looped compositions play continuously and concurrently, fading in and out of each other as viewers move between the galleries. Audio includes field recordings of Nolan walking and white noise.

Signed hardcover, limited edition copies of the Nolan’s storybook STEP. STEP. STEP. and all 200+ STEP drawings and paintings in the exhibition are available for sale. Take home a 90-minute recording of Caldwell's generative sound works for STEP. STEP. STEP. Limited edition of 20 cassette tapes with j-cards featuring Nolan's STEP 176.

The exhibition has been extended and is now on view through Sunday, June 22nd.
